NATIONWIDE — Unilever Manufacturing, Inc. has issued a nationwide recall of 6,668 cases of Breyers ice cream due to a mislabeling error that could pose a life-threatening risk to individuals with nut allergies. The recall, announced on June 2, 2025, involves 1.5-quart tubs labeled as “Chocolate Truffle” but containing “Rocky Road” ice cream, which includes almonds—a known allergen not properly declared on the packaging. According to People.com, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) classified this as a Class II recall, indicating that consumption of the product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. The affected products have a lot code of JUL1026GB3 and a UPC of 077567457288.

While the lid correctly identifies the flavor as Rocky Road, the tub’s label only states “may contain tree nuts,” failing to specifically mention almonds. This discrepancy could lead to severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, in individuals with almond allergies.

As of June 13, 2025, no illnesses have been reported. Consumers who have purchased the affected product are advised to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

For more information, consumers can contact Unilever’s customer service at 1-800-931-2826 or visit the Breyers website.
