ATMORE, Ala. — Fresh from winning the 2025 season of “American Idol,” gospel powerhouse Jamal Roberts is headed to Atmore for a free community concert that promises to be the highlight of the city’s Bee More Summer Festival.

Roberts, a 27-year-old gym teacher from Meridian, Mississippi, captured the nation’s attention with his heartfelt performances and now commands the top of the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart with his stirring cover of Tom Odell’s “Amen.” His breakout single “Heal” also topped the Gospel Digital Song Sales chart and reached No. 2 on the Digital Songs chart across all genres.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jamal Roberts to our city,” said Interim Mayor Shawn Lassiter. “This is a fantastic opportunity for our community and visitors to enjoy world-class entertainment right here in Atmore.”

Roberts will take the stage at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, at Boxcar Willie, an outdoor venue at 207 W. Ridgeley St. The festival begins at noon, with music starting at 2 p.m.

Organized by the City of Atmore and Main Street Atmore, the Bee More Summer Festival celebrates the city’s Arts & Entertainment District and features a unique educational twist — bee awareness and community gardening. The event includes bee-themed activities, face painting, a foam machine, line dancing, a mechanical bull, caricature artist, food trucks, and more.

This is one of the first    public performances for Roberts since his “Idol” win on May 18, where he rose to the top of a competitive field that included several Alabama contestants.

Festival organizers hope his appearance will draw crowds from across the region and add national spotlight to the city’s summer celebration.
