Three talented singers from Alabama are turning heads on NBC’s hit series The Voice — and each is bringing their own southern soul, heart, and faith to the national stage.

Jazz McKenzie, a 31-year-old Birmingham native now living in Huntsville, earned a four-chair turn with her soulful rendition of Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got to Do with It.” The Alabama A&M University graduate, known locally for her powerhouse performances with The Back Beat Band, joined Team Michael Bublé, who called her performance “electric.”

Alex Brown, 26, of New Hope, now based in Nashville, also impressed with a smooth cover of “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” by the Bee Gees. Brown, who grew up watching his father perform Elvis tributes, joined Team Niall Horan after earning praise for his control and soaring falsetto.

Kirbi — whose real name is Savanna Kirby, 24, from Florence — delivered a heartfelt rendition of “God Only Knows”that earned a four-chair turn and a spot on Team Niall. A contemporary Christian artist with roots in the Florence Academy of Fine Arts, Kirbi says her faith fuels her music and keeps her grounded.

All three singers are moving into the Battle Rounds, where contestants perform duets to compete for a spot in the next phase.

“The Voice” airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 7 p.m. CT on NBC and streams on Peacock.
