HUNTSVILLE, AL — In a move set to reshape morning traffic patterns for thousands, Redstone Arsenal has announced the permanent closure of Gate 10—located at Patton Road and Mills Road—effective July 8, 2025. The decision is part of an ongoing strategy to streamline base access and enhance perimeter security.
Gate 10 currently operates weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., serving as a critical route for workers and contractors accessing the base from the west side. Though specific usage numbers for Gate 10 are not published, Redstone Arsenal officials report that over 50,000 vehicles traverse the installation’s gates daily across all entry points 【source: Rocket City Now】. With the closure looming, base personnel are being urged to adjust their commuting routes.
