Michael Cox, RTX site executive, discusses Raytheon’s $115 million expansion at Redstone Arsenal, which will boost missile production capacity and add 185 jobs in Huntsville.

Raytheon, a division of RTX Corp., is halfway through a $115 million expansion of its missile integration facility at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville. The 26,000-square-foot addition is expected to be completed by November and operational by January, adding 185 new jobs and bringing total RTX employment in Alabama to 2,200.

The expanded facility will increase production capacity for multiple missile systems used by the Missile Defense Agency and U.S. Navy. Raytheon has already secured more than $2 billion in missile contracts this year, with a portion of the work slated for Huntsville.

Although Raytheon lost a major hypersonic missile defense contract to Northrop Grumman, it is challenging the decision in federal court. The company remains optimistic about growth, especially with renewed federal focus on missile defense initiatives such as President Trump’s proposed “Golden Dome.”

“This expansion positions us to scale up for the future,” said Michael Cox, RTX site executive. “We’re committed to delivering more systems to our warfighters and allies.”
