It’s time to jazz up your spring with sweet sounds from horns, keys and more.

Chandler kicks off Jazz Appreciation Month with the Chandler Jazz Festival, April 1 and 2, featuring lo- cal and national artists.

Musical luminaries and local favorites include Sugar Thieves, Dennis Jones, Roxy Coss, Jazz Con Alma with Beth Lederman and Josi- el Perez’s MambAZ All-Stars.

Dr. A.J. Chandler Park: Stage Plaza will be the location of the Main Stage on both Friday and Saturday evening. On Saturday afternoon, guests are invited to come early to watch bands perform along the sidewalks of Downtown Chandler from 2-4:30pm.

“There’s no better way to kick off Jazz Appreciation Month than with our free, two-day festival in Downtown Chandler,” said Hermelinda Llamas, event coordinator. “The Chandler Jazz Festival is a great way for the community to get ready for a melodic month of music.”

The free, family-friendly festival features hours of live performances across a range of genres including blues, traditional jazz and Latin fusion. Gates open an hour prior to the event each evening and festivalgoers are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to the outdoor concert.

Libations and cuisine will be available for purchase and guests 21 years and older can enjoy the festival’s music-infused beer and wine garden, featuring local beers from Downtown Chandler’s craft brewers along with a mix of wine and popular cocktails.

In addition to live music on the main stage, music lovers can groove to the sounds of local musicians while grabbing a drink and bite at one of the many restaurants in Downtown Chandler, all within walking distance of each other. West Alley BBQ also will play host to After Hours Jam Sessions from 9pm-midnight each night.

In addition to live music, enjoy food from a variety of vendors and shop at regional artisan booths selling paintings, photography, jewelry and more.

The festival is presented by Downtown Chandler Community Partnership, Phoenix Blues Society, The Nash, West Alley BBQ, Waste Management and City of Chandler.
