Lamia Boykin leaves the Madison County Courthouse Oct. 19, 2017 to return to jail after a hearing in the capital murder case of her father’s death.

A Montgomery woman pleaded guilty last Friday to killing her father in Huntsville in order to steal about $2,200.

Lamia Danielle Boykin, 24, had been charged in the Sept. 2, 2017 killing of her father, Neal Boykin, 62.

Arrested along with Boykin was her Birmingham boyfriend, Michael Fondren. He pleaded guilty on Jan. 31 to murder during the course of first degree burglary. A sentencing hearing for him is scheduled for March 11 at the Madison County Courthouse.

Lamia Boykin pleaded guilty to felony murder. Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 1.

Neal Boykin was found beaten and strangled, lying in his bed when police were called to his Medaris Road home.

The couple was accused of robbing the victim by entering an unlocked back door, turning off the electricity to the house and waiting in the kitchen for the man to come and investigate the power outage.

For more than two weeks, no suspects were charged in the case — until Sept. 18, 2017, when Lamia Boykin and Fondren went to the police department for interviews. Both suspects were separated and questioned. Each initially denied knowing anything about Neal Boykin’s death, police said, but eventually both described a plan to enter the victim’s house, cut the power and steal his money.
