NORMAL, AL — The Alabama A&M University women’s basketball team successfully hosted its second annual toiletry drive and meet & greet this past Saturday, June 21, at the AAMU Event Center, continuing the program’s commitment to service and community impact.
The event ran from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., welcoming supporters from the campus and broader Huntsville community. Guests were encouraged to donate a wide range of personal hygiene and toiletry items for individuals and families in need.
Head coach Dawn Thornton emphasized the purpose behind the initiative in the lead-up to the event:
“We are committed to serving more than just our team, we’re here to support our community,” Thornton said. “This toiletry drive is one way we can give back and stand alongside those in need, because we believe we are stronger when we uplift one another.”
“Championship culture starts with character, and we are dedicated to showing up for our community the same way we show up for each other — with our heart, hustle and service,” she added. “We invited our Bulldog family and the entire community to join us in making a difference.”
Items Donated Included:
- Toothbrushes and toothpaste
- Floss, feminine hygiene products
- Shampoo, conditioner, soap, and deodorant
- Hand sanitizer and other personal care supplies
Community turnout and contributions helped replenish vital resources for those in need across the region. For future involvement or questions, community members may reach out via coachtaamu@gmail.com.
