President Daniel K. Wims, along with other Alabama A&M University officials including Vice President of Governmental Affairs and External Relations Shannon Reeves, Vice President of Research and Economic Development Dr. Majed El-Dweik, and Taurus Smith of AAMU Military Affairs, recently visited the Pentagon to meet with the officials at the Department of the Army and the Air Force’s Office of Space Acquisition and Integration.

Leaders discussed ways in which AAMU can support national security policy-making and defense acquisition. Central in the conversations were talks about creating and expanding programs to enhance Alabama A&M’s role in growing the national security workforce.

Smith says AAMU plans to further leverage its location in one of the nation’s most active cities in terms of Department of Defense investment, while increasing AAMU’s visibility within in the military landscape. Hosting the AAMU leadership team was Deputy Chief of Staff to the Secretary of the Army Dan White and Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Airforce for Space Acquisition and Integration Dr. Ramsey Smith.
