Authorities have released the name of a west Jefferson County man killed when he fell from a ladder over the weekend.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Theodore “Theo” Ware. He was 56.
Sheriff’s deputies and medics were dispatched just before 1 p.m. Saturday to the 6000 block of Lou George Loop in McCalla on a report that someone had fallen from a tree, said Lt. Joni Money.

Witnesses told authorities the man had used the ladder to cut limbs on the tree. One of the limbs hit the ladder on which the victim was standing.
Ware fell approximately 30 feet. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:26 p.m.
Ware owned a tree business called Ware Werks, and had clients throughout Jefferson County. He was on a job Saturday when he was killed.
“Many people called him Superman or George of the Jungle because he feared nothing,’’ said his cousin, Tiana Tompkins. “It’s truly what he loved to do.”
Ware, she said, was a loving husband and father of three.
“Any and every time you were around Theo, he was sure to keep you laughing,’’ Tompkins said. “He will be truly missed.”
