Downtown Phoenix is joining the line-up of more than 196 countries around the globe that will be participating in International Jazz Day in April, an annual event that is officially designated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to celebrate jazz and the role it plays in uniting people in all corners of the world.

Jazz Day AZ continues the celebration of the annual AZ International Jazz Day events taking place during April with this fifth annual event. The Jazz At Lunch Time concert will be 11am-4pm Wednesday, April 20.

Several well known local artists will perform during the concert. Special appearances will be made by valley mayors, senators, and house of representative members; some of whom will speak on the importance of supporting music in education.

Featured performers include:

• South Mountain Jazz Band under the direction of David Moss

• Chaz Jackson Thunder Band and Buffalo

Soldiers US Army Veteran President/CEO of Buffalo Soldiers of America Inc.

• DeeDee Carson Vocalist National Anthem

• Keyboard Artist Tony Willis Retired Military Veteran/Percussionist Milton Wilson

Other special guest performers will make appearances during the event. The event location is at Arizona State Capitol, 1700 W. Washington Street (85007).
