Prince George’s County is poised for an exciting season of major events, showcasing the critical role that cutting-edge connectivity plays in driving economic growth and enhancing visitor experiences. From record-breaking concerts to iconic sporting matchups, the region’s ability to seamlessly connect tens of thousands of attendees helps sustain its position as a hub for both entertainment and innovation.

This spring, the county will welcome some of the biggest names in music, including AC/DC’s POWER UP Tour, Metallica’s M72 World Tour, and Kendrick Lamar & SZA’s Grand National Tour. These events are expected to draw massive crowds, pumping energy into local businesses and reinforcing the county’s reputation as a premier destination for world-class entertainment.

Large-scale events like these underscore the importance of robust infrastructure to accommodate thousands of visitors. For example, the 125th Army-Navy game, hosted in Prince George’s County this past December, brought over 50,000 fans to the area. Historical data shows just how significant the economic impact of events like these can be: the 2023 Army-Navy matchup in Massachusetts drew 65,878 spectators, filling 25,000 hotel rooms and generating $30 million in economic activity for the host region, according to Meet Boston. Each visitor staying in local hotels, dining at restaurants, and shopping at nearby businesses contributes to the region’s economic vitality.

At the heart of this success lies regional investment in connectivity. Crown Castle, the nation’s largest provider of communications infrastructure, has worked locally with the county and carriers to install 10 small cells, or low-powered antennas that support mobile coverage located on structures like streetlights and utility poles, around Northwest Stadium and over 190 small cells across the region. As a result, visitors now benefit from lightning-fast wireless speeds and seamless coverage. This advanced network infrastructure not only enhances fan experiences—enabling instant social media sharing, efficient ticket scanning, and real-time updates—but also ensures safety, streamlines operations, and supports media coverage.

As Prince George’s County gears up for a spring season packed with unforgettable events, its commitment to connectivity serves as a model for how communities can harness technology to amplify their economic and cultural impact. By prioritizing infrastructure that supports both residents and visitors, the region is laying the groundwork for sustained growth and prosperity.
