Warwick, RI — October 26, 2024 — Dr. Velma Trayham, CEO of the Black Chamber of Arizona and founder of Thinkzilla Consulting Group, delivered a powerful keynote address to a sold-out crowd at the Rhode Island Black Business Association’s (RIBBA) 2024 Annual Awards Gala on October 25. Speaking to over 600 leaders, business professionals, and public officials, Dr. Trayham shared her personal journey from growing up in poverty in Houston, Texas, to becoming a sought-after global consultant and thought leader advising corporations and government agencies.
“My story reflects the power of resilience and opportunity,” Dr. Trayham said. “We must continue to break down barriers and create economic pathways for marginalized communities.” She urged attendees to focus on sustainable investments, small business growth, and workforce development as tools to close the racial wealth gap.
The gala, themed “Championing Equity: Building Wealth & Bridging Gaps,” highlighted achievements in advancing economic inclusion across Rhode Island. Proceeds from the event will support RIBBA’s programs, including technical assistance, business development training, and capital access for minority-owned enterprises
