Three years ago, the Mobile County Commission spent $24,980 to stabilize a dilapidated residential structure that in most neighborhoods in almost any city, would have been allowed to deteriorate with little attention paid to it.
But county officials believe the stories inside the boarded-up home could unlock some mysteries key to the continued revitalization of the Africatown community into a cultural and heritage tourism district.
