A man who family members had been looking for since Saturday was found slain Sunday morning in western Birmingham.
Birmingham police identified the victim as Robert Alexander Brown. He was 22 and lived in Bessemer.
Birmingham police were dispatched just after 10 a.m. Sunday to Dolomite Westfield Park on Tin Mill Road on a report of a person shot.
Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said officers arrived to find the victim inside a vehicle. Birmingham Fire and Rescue and Rescue Service pronounced him dead on the scene from at least one gunshot wound.
Multiple family members of Brown were visibly distraught at the crime scene.
Wade said the family had been looking for him since about noon Saturday to no avail. They were searching the Dolomite area Sunday morning when they found his SUV in the parking lot of the park.
Once they saw him inside, they called 911.
No arrests have been made.
Brown is the city’s 86th homicide victim this year. Of those, one was an officer involved shooting by an outside law enforcement agency and seven others have been ruled justified and therefore aren’t deemed criminal.
In all of Jefferson County, there have been 119 homicides including the 86 in Birmingham.
