A man charged in the slaying of his girlfriend, who had been missing two weeks before her body was found, was already out on bond for a domestic violence charge.
Robert Lee Young, 55, is charged with murder in the death of 30-year-old Quanisha Davis.
Authorities have not yet said how Davis how Davis died, but said she was killed between May 19 and May 30, according to charging documents against Young.
An autopsy is being conducted to determine a cause of death.
Dadeville police in January charged Young with third-degree domestic violence/menacing and certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm. The alleged crime happened at 5:15 a.m. on New Year’s Day.
Young was arrested Jan. 7, and released on bond the following day.
Tallapoosa County prosecutors are seeking to have Young’s bond revoked following the new murder charge against him, records show.
They claim he violated the conditions of his bond by having contact with Davis and by allegedly committing a new crime.
Davis was reported missing to the Alexander City Police Department on Friday, May 24.
Davis was reportedly last seen in Dadeville on May 17, according to the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office. Family had not heard from her since the day before that and were actively searching for her.
Authorities said her white 2006 Ford Explorer was found about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, in a wooded area on North Loop Road in Dadeville.
Her body was found Thursday, May 30, shortly before 8 a.m. in a wooded area on Buck Street in Dadeville.
Young remains held in jail. A court date has not been announced.
