Crews began clearing property on south Memorial Parkway in Huntsville, Ala., this week for a new mixed-use development near Joe Davis Stadium.

Work has begun on the latest big mixed-unit development in Huntsville a 90,000-square- foot-plus retail, hotel, food and residential complex on south Memorial Parkway.

Heavy equipment was working on the site of the development this week in front of Joe Davis Stadium. Called “Stadium Commons,” the complex will include a 408-space parking garage, 300 of which spaces will be leased by the city for $10.5 million for events at John Hunt Park and the stadium. The garage will be the first structure to rise, according to early reports about the project
