California is experiencing an outbreak of avian flu or bird flu (H5N1), as well as Norovirus and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), and the CDC recommends that people who must have direct or close contact with sick or dead wild birds, poultry or other animals, including dairy cows, wear recommended personal protective equipment (PPE).
