The Arizona Commission on African American Affairs with ASU Pastor Center for Politics and Public Service is hosting an online webinar on Tucson Arizona’s Pre-Arrest Deflection Program which helps people with addiction problems, stops our burgeoning prison problem while saving the taxpayer money, and improves public safety.

Presenter is Josephine D. Korchmaros, PhD, Director, Southwest Institute for Research on Women, University of Arizona will lead this webinar and describe the Tucson Police Department’s Deflection Program, a pre-arrest police-behavioral health approach to combating opioid and other substance misuse. It will also present findings of a comprehensive evaluation assessing cost savings and effectiveness of the program related to decreasing substance misuse, criminal activity, and mental health issues.
