NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center Highlights Baraka Truss
Baraka Truss, an Avionics and Software Branch Chief at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, was featured in The Marshall Star, the center’s weekly newsletter. The spotlight on Truss underscores her pivotal role in NASA’s “Mission Success is in Our Hands” safety initiative.
A Montgomery, Alabama native, Truss holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer science from Alabama A&M University. Her distinguished career spans 28 years at Marshall, where she has dedicated herself to advancing safety and excellence in aerospace technology.
As the leader of the Avionics and Software Branch, Truss oversees a talented team responsible for safeguarding the integrity of hardware and software across various NASA programs. Her role encompasses daily management, strategic oversight, and embodying NASA’s core values of commitment and leadership. She is recognized for her dedication to enhancing supervisory practices and achieving impactful outcomes for the broader agency.
Truss’s impressive career includes notable positions such as Software Engineer, Software Engineering Process Group Lead, Special Assistant to the Center Director, Independent Assessment Team Lead, Software Quality Discipline Lead Engineer, and SLS (Space Launch System) Software Chief Safety Officer.
