Los Angeles, CA. – The Broad is currently seeking candidates for the Diversity Apprenticeship Program (DAP), at the Broad Modern Art Museum, 221 S. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, California.
The Diversity Apprenticeship Program aims to provide preparation/art handling apprenticeship to groups under represented on Museum staff. This includes Black, Indigenous, and people of color, women, those formerly incarcerated, system impacted, immigrants, the gender alt community, LGBTQIA, and foster youth. There has already been tow successful cohorts of applicants who have completed the program and over 90% have retained jobs at institutions in Los Angeles after the program.
The Broad Diversity Apprenticeship Program is a 9-month, full time apprenticeship in art handling. You do not need to have any specific level of education or previous art handling experience.
The Diversity Apprenticeship Program pays $17.75/hour, plus benefits (medical, dental, vision, and a monthly TAP card).
The program seeks to hire 8 apprentices starting July 2022. Applicants must be 18 or older to apply and participant in the Diversity Apprenticeship Program.
The first month of the apprenticeship is full-time paid training. Afterwards, apprentices rotate to different assignments with partnering institutions. Additional features of the program paid training with experienced preparators/art handlers, hands on experience with partner museums, galleries, and institutions across Los Angeles. Applicants can expect personalized support and mentorship in preparing to build a career in the museum and art world, networking opportunities, career and job preparation workshops and field trips to art and cultural institutions.
