Known for his work as an education reporter for Maryland’s WBAL-TV 11 News, Tooten retired from the station in 2023 after 35 years of service.
Tooten was active in the community as pastor of Harvest Christian Ministries. He was also an author and affiliate professor of broadcast journalism at Loyola University.
The AFRO sends condolences to the family and friends of Tooten, and all those who were honored to know him.
