Couch Conversation with Pastor and Mrs. Watkins and family

The Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church celebrated the First Pastoral Anniversary of Rev. Dion Jamar Watkins on Saturday and Sunday, October 15 and 16. 2022.

Rev. Watkins was installed as the Pastor of the Progressive Union Church on Sunday, October 17, 2021. This past year has seen growth in ministries in the community and membership under Pastor Watkins’ leadership.

A native of Buffalo, New York, Pastor Watkins has been a Pastor for 21 years. He served as Pastor of the Mount Olive Church Ministries in Hartford, Connecticut, before becoming the Pastor of Progressive Union.

The celebration of Pastor Watkins’ first anniversary kicked off with an event called the ‘Couch Conversation and Comedy Show’ on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at the Wayne P. Snodgrass Family Life Center. The event featured a time of conversation with Pastor Watkins, First Lady Candice Watkins, and their three sons. Also, those in attendance enjoyed comedy from Will Johnson, Jr., and music by DJ Lashay B.

Dr. Claudette Owens served as the Mistress of the Ceremony. On Sunday, October 16, 2022, Pastor Watkins and their family were honored during the church’s 10:00 a.m. Worship service. The guest speaker for the service was Dr. Brodie Johnson, Pastor of the Cornerstone Institutional Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. His sermon title was “The Record Says That You Are Covered,” a scriptural reference to Genesis 19:16-18.

Progressive Union Church is located at 1917 Brandontown Road in Huntsville, Alabama.
