ANNAPOLIS, MD – (March 4, 2025) – Providence of Maryland, a non-profit organization supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, proudly announces the appointment of Tanya Millner, Ed.D., to its Board of Directors. With over 30 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Millner brings a distinguished background and leadership skills, further strengthening Providence’s mission-driven work.

Dr. Millner currently serves as Provost and Vice President of Learning at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC), where she provides strategic leadership across the institution’s five schools of study. Her role encompasses faculty development, curriculum advancement, strategic planning, and institutional effectiveness.

Prior to joining AACC, she held leadership and teaching positions within the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities system, Northeastern University, and Northern Virginia Community College, among others. Throughout her career, she has been committed to fostering inclusive and supportive learning environments that drive meaningful impact.

“As an educator, my life’s work has been devoted to fostering inclusive and supportive environments where every individual can thrive,” said Dr. Millner. “By joining the board of Providence of Maryland, I hope to contribute to realizing the organization’s vision, ensuring that every person, regardless of their ability, is afforded the opportunity to live, learn, work, and play in their community.

“I look forward to collaborating with like-minded individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” she added. “Together, we can continue to build a community where everyone is valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their fullest potential.”

A recognized advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, Dr. Millner has completed the University of South Florida’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace certificate program. She also served as State Board Chair-Elect of the American Council on Education Women’s Network of Connecticut, underscoring her commitment to leadership, mentorship, and advancing opportunities for underrepresented communities.

Dr. Millner earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown University and a Master of Arts degree from Northeastern University.
