The Arizona Diamondbacks, Black Professionals & Allies, and TPRG (Team Player Resource Group), in partnership with BASE Arizona (Black Alliance & Social Empowerment), hosted over 150 students, from BASE Arizona’s Afro Scouts Youth Development program & Black Student Union Programs from around the valley, for a Sports career showcase sharing pathways into the sports industry.  The event included a panel discussion with access to Black Professionals in various positions across sports in the valley, and a behind the scenes game day tour of chase field.  At the conclusion of the event, the students received tickets to watch the Arizona Diamondbacks vs NY Mets game during the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Jackie Robinson at Chase Field on Friday, April 22.

BASE Arizona was also honored on the field and presented with a $2500 check from the Arizona Diamondbacks Givebacks to support youth programs and outreach.  A few Afro Scouts and Black Student Union Members were also recognized for their community service, sports achievements, and excellence in the community:  Ms. Rae Black, Mia Johnson, Eveyn Carson, King Mauni, Neomi “Nemo” Beach, Kalayna Walker, Alyea Brown and Tre Spivey
