A female crossing guard was struck by a vehicle this morning in Madison.

The incident happened at about 7:30 a.m. in front of West Madison Pre-K at 4976 Wall Triana Hwy. Madison police and fire medics responded to a collision between a vehicle and pedestrian.

A Madison City Schools spokesperson said the woman was a school crossing guard at the school.

Madison police identified the crossing guard as Terri Perdue of Madison. At the time she was struck, Perdue was wearing a yellow high visibility jacket and yellow high visibility gloves.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the crash site and cooperated with the preliminary investigation. Wall Triana Highway was closed but has since reopened to the public.

“Our thoughts are with Ms. Perdue and her family as well as the driver and others involved,” police said in a statement.
