The Rock Family Worship Center announced new plans to renovate a school the church is currently using as its Huntsville campus.
The former Butler High School facility will be transformed into a K-12 Christian private school called Kingdom Heights Preparatory.
The church is hoping to open the school by fall 2025, pending the completion of renovations. The estimated cost for the initial work on the facility, including enhancements to athletic fields and playgrounds, is projected at $4.65 million. Entire costs, according to The Rock’s website, will be about $17 million.
According to The Rock, Kingdom Heights will be an accredited Christian school focused on advanced academics and innovation, experiential learning models, and career placement. Phase one of the project will include classrooms, STEM labs, music and arts studios, teaching stations and digital interactive displays, fire safety upgrades, lighting and bleachers for athletic facilities and gym renovations, as well as playgrounds.
Lead Pastor Scott Silcox said many private schools in the city are currently experiencing waitlists, underscoring the need for additional educational options.
The Rock Family Worship Center was founded on May 5, 1999, with locations in both Alabama and Tennessee. They’re known for hosting various conferences and events for the greater Huntsville area. The church acquired the vacant Butler High School building in 2019 and has since held worship services there.
