3-Members of VVA Chapter 1067 with LTG “Donnie” Walker

The Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), Chapter 1067, Huntsville, Alabama, celebrated the National Vietnam War Veterans Day on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, 10:00 a.m., at the Huntsville-Madison County Veterans Memorial. March 29 became the official day of observance of the National Vietnam War Veterans Day in 2017 when it was signed into law by President Donald Trump. The day is set aside to honor all veterans who served in all branches of the military any time between November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975, regardless of if they served in Vietnam. This year Chapter 1067 honored members of their chapter who had gone the extra mile. In a special recognition a medallion was presented to Lieutenant General (LTG) Flem B. “Donnie” Walker, Jr., in honor of his late father, Sergeant First Class Flem B. Walker, Sr., who served two tours of duty in Vietnam. LTG Walker serves as the Deputy Commanding General of the Army Material Command (AMC) Redstone Arsenal and the Senior Commander of Red- stone Arsenal. A Presidential Life-Time Award was presented posthumously to the family of the late Specialist 4 Richard L. Crimes, U. S. Army. He was recognized for his “Out- standing Support as the Historian and Photographer” for chapter 1067 and was also recognized as the “Vietnam Veteran of the Year” for 2022. Other members of the chapter receiving recognition were Mrs. Barbara Langford, SGT. Gregory Miley, Col (Re- tired) Steven Froniabarger, CSM (Retired) Joshua Perry, SSG (Retired) Tracy Wiggs, SGT (Retired) Jerry Cox, SGT (Retired) Bibb Collier and SGT (Retired) Glen Strain. Command Sergeant Major (CSM) (Retired) Charlie Miller is the President of VVA Chapter 1067. Membership in chapter 1067 is open to all veterans who served in the military from November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975.
