The missing Montgomery teenager who turned up dead last week was fatally shot in the head by accident while he and four others opened fire on a home, a detective testified Monday.
Michael Anthony Cole Jr., 16, was with the two suspects in his murder — Nedvin Maynard Jones Jr., and Nicholas Treyvon King-Sheppard, both 18 — and two others on Jan. 25 when the five of them shot at the home of someone they suspected stole a gun from one of them, Det. A.C. Patterson testified at the suspects’ bail hearing, WSFA reported.
Michael was accidentally shot in the back of the head, Patterson testified.
The detective said the teenager’s body was badly burned
The teen was reported missing by his family Jan. 26.
Michael’s body was found Jan. 29 in the 6500 block of Selma Highway.
Police said Michael and the suspects were believed to have known each other when the charges against Jones and King-Sheppard were announced.
