Family and friends gathered on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at the Westin Hotel, for Majorie Battle’s 86th birthday celebration. Marjorie received a resolution from AAMU office of the President for her outstanding 55 years of service to education. She also received a proclamation from the Mayor of Huntsville declaring September 22, Marjorie McCaulley Battle day.

Marjorie’s journey is a testament to her unwavering commitment to education and her alma mater, Alabama A&M University. A proud graduate of the Class of 1961, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education with a minor in Art, Battle’s career began in classrooms across Tennessee and Alabama, shaping young minds in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Limestone and Madison Counties, Alabama.

In 1969, Battle returned to Alabama A&M, answering the call of Dr. Bernice Richardson. Her initial role as a kindergarten teacher in the Early Child Development Center showcased her passion for early childhood education, a field she would later champion as a professor. Battle’s dedication extended beyond the classroom; she nurtured the university’s spirit as the Director of Student Activities and cheerleading advisor.

A respected mentor, Battle, alongside Barbara Gordon, guided the Delta Delta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority for nearly two decades. Her leadership also shone through her tenure as President of the Alabama A&M Faculty Senate. Battle’s legacy continues to this day as she imparts her wisdom and experience as a professor, inspiring future generations of educators.
