The Madison County Chapter of the Alabama New South Coalition (ANSC) recently organized a Meet the Candidates Forum on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., held at the Cavalry Hill School Auditorium. This event allowed attendees to engage with the three candidates vying for the District Six Commissioner position. Among them were incumbent Commissioner Violet Edwards,

Mr. JesHenry Malone, who previously served as interim District Six Commissioner from 2018 to 2020, and Mr. Ralphael Law, a newcomer to the Madison County political landscape.

Chairing the event was Ms. Michelle Watkins, who presided over the Madison County ANSC. She introduced the Moderator for the Forum, Min. Fred Whitlow II. The forum also featured a poignant moment when Miss Caydence ‘CeCe’ Foy, a high school student, shared a self-penned poem titled “The Answer.

“Each candidate was allowed to deliver an opening statement, followed by a session of questions from the Moderator and the audience. Unfortunately, Commissioner Edwards was unable to attend due to a family emergency. However, her campaign manager, Ms. April Hodges, read a statement on her behalf.

It’s worth noting that the District Six Primary Election is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Registered voters within District Six are strongly encouraged to exercise their civic rights and cast their votes.
