Impact Ignite Initiative Launches Creative Multi-County Campaign to Boost Voter Participation Through Art and Fashion
The Madison County Democratic Executive Committee’s (MCDEC) Youth Caucus, chaired by Zoie D. Roberson, will host a fashion show in collaboration with the Alabama Fashion Alliance on August 17th at the Event Center at Roto-Rooter. This event will kick off a multi-county campaign founded by the MCDEC Youth
Caucus called Fit-to-Vote, which is part of an initiative—Impact Ignite—to boost young voter participation through events, activities, and strategic outreach.
Fit-to-Vote is a creative and art-centric campaign centered around outfits and apparel reflecting support for issues such as social justice, women’s rights, and more. The campaign aims to wield the power of art to encourage voter participation and drive positive change. The event will host vendors, light refreshments, and a silent auction with eye-catching items for those who seek to vote in style.
“Voter participation lies at the very core of democracy. If fewer and fewer voters participate, generation by generation, our democracy will go from broken pieces to disintegrated ashes.
Politics dictates the very fabric of our lives, and our futures should not—must not—be decided by the few who vote, or else our country may no longer be ‘sweet’ nor a ‘land of liberty’ for all its citizens,” Roberson states.
In light of this understanding, the Youth Caucus of the Madison County Democratic Executive Committee is steadfast in boosting voter participation throughout the county. Roberson believes that one way to increase voter turnout is to make voting a sensation, which inspired the creation of a unique and artistic campaign. Roberson further states, “This campaign embraces the collision of art, free expression, and political and social awareness.”
Limited seating is available, and the event tickets are free. All are invited. To learn more about event details and secure your ticket, visit www.impactignite.org.
