HUNTSVILLE, AL, February 12, 2025– The Huntsville City Council has officially approved a Memorandum of Agreement between the City of Huntsville Department of Parks and Recreation and the Delta Omega Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated to establish the Harriett S. Littlepage Little Free Library at Lakewood Community Center, 3601 NW Kenwood Drive.

A Little Free Library is a freestanding book-sharing resource designed to promote literacy by offering books and reading materials for all ages. This initiative aligns with the Delta Omega Zeta Chapter’s vision of expanding access to literature and fostering a love of reading throughout Northwest Huntsville.

The first Little Free Library is dedicated to the legacy of Dr. Harriett S. Littlepage, a former chapter president and devoted advocate for children’s literacy and community service. The chapter envisions placing additional Little Free Libraries in neighborhoods across Northwest Huntsville, continuing her mission of education and empowerment.
