Timaya Williams

Human remains discovered late Thursday in northwest Georgia have been identified as those of a Montgomery woman who disappeared in June, authorities said Friday.

The skeletal remains were found in a homeowner’s yard on Georgia State Route 193 in the Cooper Heights community, in Walker County, the county sheriff’s office said.

The homeowner called authorities after their dog retrieved the remains and placed them in the yard.

Early Friday morning, a human skeleton was found by authorities in a nearby wooded area, according to the sheriff’s office.

The remains were tentatively identified as those of Timaya Williams, 23, of Montgomery.

The initial findings have revealed Williams to have died by suicide, according to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson.

Williams’ vehicle was abandoned in early June on the right of way of Georgia State Route 193 and was towed after remaining abandoned for a week.

Further information was unavailable.
