Hopewell M.B Church was filled with a spirit of reverence and celebration on September 24th as the congregation gathered to honor and uplift the men in their community during the annual Men’s Day Worship Service. Under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Larry Davidson Jr, the theme of the service was “Mighty Men of Valor Living With God Through A Trusting Faith,” inspired by Judges 6:12.
The day began with a soul-stirring Call to Worship delivered by Minister Cornelious Adams, setting the tone for a meaningful and impactful service. Deacon Willie Smith and his special visitor, Donald Thompson, affectionately known as Duck, led the congregation in a powerful devotion, invoking the spirit of unity and praise with the cherished hymn.
The Hopewell Men’s Chorus took the stage, filling the sanctuary with harmonious melodies as they led the congregation in worship through song. Their voices resonated with passion and conviction, uplifting the spirits of all in attendance.
Brother Chris Whitman delivered a heartfelt and stirring Altar Call, inviting men to step forward and commit or recommit their lives to God. The atmosphere was charged with emotion as individuals responded to the call, seeking guidance, strength, and renewal.
The highlight of the service was the powerful sermon delivered by Reverend Lonnie Orr, Senior Pastor of Christ in Me Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Drawing inspiration from the scripture passage “A Good Man Is Hard To Find” (1 Samuel 17:20-28), Pastor Orr emphasized that God often chooses ordinary men to accomplish extraordinary things when they walk by faith.
Pastor Orr skillfully highlighted several men from the Bible, reminding the congregation that they may appear ordinary in human eyes, but God sees their true potential through spiritual eyes. He focused on the example of David, an ordinary boy who performed mighty acts in the Bible, demonstrating that through faith and trust in God, even the most ordinary individuals can achieve greatness.
Throughout his sermon, Pastor Orr shared spiritual insights and nuggets of wisdom, leaving a lasting impact on those in attendance. His words resonated deeply, encouraging men to embrace the spirit of God and be empowered to fulfill their divine purpose.
The service concluded with Deacon Willie Smith, Chairperson of Men’s Day, presenting awards to esteemed elders, recognizing and honoring their unwavering commitment to serving God and the community. Their steadfast dedication was acknowledged as they were praised for their tireless efforts in upholding the values and teachings of the church.
The Men’s Day Worship Service at Hopewell M.B Church was an inspiring and transformative experience, reminding everyone of the power and potential residing in ordinary men who walk with faith. The event served as a testament to the importance of men’s spiritual leadership and their significant contributions to the church and society at large.
The service was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts and minds of all in attendance. It served as a reminder that through faith and trust in God, ordinary men can be mighty men of valor, making a difference in the world around them.
