Tuskegee University’s football team has been picking up a lot of momentum in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) and one of the teams to watch in the conference.

The Golden Tigers (5-1 overall, 4-0 league) will look to continue its stellar play against Edward Waters (3-3 overall, 3-2 league) in a home game on Saturday, Oct. 14. The kickoff will be at 2 p.m.

On offense, Tuskegee is led by wide receivers Corey Petty and Antonio Meeks. Petty has 19 catches for 344 yards and one touchdown this season; Meeks has 13 receptions for 306 yards and three TDs.

Defensively, linebacker Vincent Hill has played some outstanding football with 45 total and 1 total tackles. Cornerback Mikael King has produced 29 total and 20 solo tackles.

In other SIAC action, Miles College (4-2 overall, 3-1 league) will visit Morehouse College (0-6 overall, 0-4 league) on Saturday, Oct. 14. The kickoff is set for 12 p.m. Miles College is looking to bounce back after dropping a tough 27-24 loss to Benedict College last week.

The Golden Bears’ wide receiver Jaih Andrews continues to play at a high level with 16 catches for 309 yards including two TDs.

On the defensive side, cornerback Jamarius Brown has been one of the team’s best playmakers. He has played extremely well in the Golden Bears’ secondary with 18 total and 15 solo tackles.

In the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), Alabama A&M (3-3 overall, 1-2 league) will face Grambling State (3-3 overall, 2-1 league) on the road Saturday, Oct. 14. The kickoff will be at 3 p.m.

The Bulldogs’ strength on offense has been the ground attack with running backs Donovan Eaglin and Ryan Morrow, which has helped them control the tempo.

Elsewhere in the SWAC, Alabama State (2-3 overall, 1-2 league) will entertain Jackson State (4-2 overall, 2-1 league) on Saturday, Oct. 14 with a 2 p.m. kickoff.

Linebacker Colton Adams has been a major defensive standout for Alabama State with 60 total tackles.
