Tuskegee University is one of the hottest teams in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) putting together an impressive 3-0 record this season.
The Golden Tigers will host Lane College on Saturday, Sept. 23 with hopes of keeping the winning streak alive in this conference matchup. The kickoff will be at 1 p.m.
Tuskegee has some real playmakers. On offense, running back Chase Sellers is a big part of the ground attack. He leads the team in rushing with 118 yards on 38 carries and two touchdowns. Golden Tigers wide receiver Antonio Meeks has made some big catches. Meeks has 13 receptions for 306 yards and one TD.
Defensively, linebacker Malik Moore is a terrific all-around player. Moore plays well against the pass and the run. He has 25 total and 16 solo tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and one interception. Cornerback Christian Ramsay has given Tuskegee solid play in the secondary with 12 total and 10 solo tackles along with one interception.
In other action in the SIAC, Miles College will entertain Clark Atlanta on Saturday, Sept. 23. The kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
Miles College is looking to bounce back following a tough 21-20 loss to Arkansas-Pine Bluff last week. A player to watch for the Golden Bears is defensive lineman Jamichael Rogers who is a good run stopper and pass rusher. Rogers had five total tackles, two tackles for loss and three sacks in a losing effort to the Golden Lions.
In the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), Alabama A&M defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 31-24, in Huntsville, Ala. on Thursday, Sept. 21.
The Bulldogs were led by quarterback Quincy Casey who completed 27 of 33 passes for 328 yards and 3 TDs and running back Donovon Eaglin who rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. A&M snapped a 24-24 tie with 7:53 left in the fourth quarter when Casey hit Barry White with a 5-yard pass.
Elsewhere in the SWAC, Alabama State will visit Florida A&M on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 5 p.m. Alabama State linebacker Colton Adams is one of the league’s top defensive players. Adams has 29 total and 10 solo tackles, one tackle for loss and one sack.
