The Men of Tanner hosted its 23rd Christmas Prayer Breakfast Saturday morning with opening scriptures from Psalms 150, Romans 5:1-2 and Revelations 19:1-6. “Hallelujah” was the cry of thanks espoused by the guest speaker, retired Justice of Peace Cody Williams. Williams spoke for about 30 minutes and shared inspiring tidbits from and about the Bible and life in general.
During his talk, Williams indicated that we are in a constant world of discernment.
“We’re trying to discern those signals, trying to understand that I lost this job, it didn’t work out and now the job market is in a very promotable time. This could have been the path as it was for me. I was let go from a job and my next job was working for the City of Phoenix, which led to me becoming a councilman, which led to becoming President of the Black Chamber of Commerce, which led to me being a judge. If I was still at that job, I might not be happy,” Williams said.
“Those were all hallelujah moments, moments to offer praise to the Lord. He didn’t wake us up this morning cause. God woke us up this morning, because, there is still work to be done.”
Williams intimated that David wrote most of the Psalms and in the 150th chapter, the word praise is used in each verse.
“The people asked over and over, why God should be praised and David answered by giving every possible reason why they/we should,” Williams said.
He then ventured to Romans that was written by Paul, the Apostle, who focused on hope.
“There is always hope if you believe,” Williams said.
He concluded his message by visiting the book of Revelation that was written by John. Williams encouraged the audience to visit Chapter 18 before reading Chapter 19 because it helps clarify why the her and she and the whore in Chapter 19 is what the men called Babylon after it was destroyed by God.
In some circles, women were referred to as the culprits but the destruction of Babylon wasn’t caused by just women, Babylon was destroyed because the people had become so evil and so corrupt in all their ways. He concluded by stating that we are all here because of love, our faith and by the grace of God.
“From this day forward praising and worshipping God should be habitual for all of us,” Williams said. Hallelujah!
The Men of Tanner concluded the program by paying tribute to two deceased former members: Herbert P. Tancil IV and Richard C. Casper. The men were faithful supporters of the programs throughout the years and plaques were presented to Marcia Tancil and son Herbert V and Carol Casper and grandson Jeffrey. Another longtime supporter, Samuel Rodriguez passed away recently, and he will be honored at a later date.
Pastor Benjamin N. Thomas Sr. closed the program by thanking all of the participants and supporters who always make this event extra special.
