As if a dramatic late-inning home run wasn’t enough for the Grambling State baseball team Saturday, the Tigers’ social media team couldn’t resist one final jab at their opponent.
Senior third baseman Cameron Bufford’s three-run bomb in the top of the ninth inning was the difference as Grambling defeated Florida A&M 14-11 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference semifinals to advance to the championship game on Sunday.
The outcome inspired the Grambling State baseball X account to post, “I got 237 million problems, but a snake ain’t one.”
Florida A&M has been dealing with the fallout from a phantom $237 million donation from alleged hemp farmer Gregory Gerami, which has forced the university to retract references to the gift and conduct an investigation regarding procedures and processes regarding gifts and donations.
Grambling State will look for its first SWAC baseball title since 2010 when it takes on Jackson State on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Russ Chandler Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
