A GoFundMe campaign is underway to help the family of a woman who died last week after her vehicle was hit by a suspect who led police on a multi-county chase.

Ellarea Dickson, a 77-year-old Crane Hill resident, was struck and killed by another motorist fleeing pursuit by law enforcement in Cullman County. Dickson is the mother of Morgan County Sheriff Department Sergeant John Dickson.

At the time of the crash, Ellarea and granddaughter Alyssa Dickson were on their way to work at a local Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant, according to a GoFundMe for the Dicksons.

Ellarea died at the scene. According to the GoFundMe, organized by Mike Swafford, Alyssa sustained two broken arms, a broken pelvis, a broken leg, a brain bleed and a small tear in an artery. “She is in Huntsville Hospital in critical but stable condition,” the description on the online campaign said.

The campaign has raised $3,100 towards its $10,000 goal. According to the GoFundMe, “Donations will go to assisting the family as they support Alyssa and the final arrangements for Ellarea.”

The suspect in the crash has been identified as Michael Ivy, 39, of Middleton, Tenn.
