Huntsville’s city council Thursday night ratified rate increases for electricity and trash pickup that will start in January.
The hit to most users’ wallets will total about $10.50 per month starting then.
The electricity rate increase slightly scaled back a previous request from Huntsville Utilities. Earlier this month, the utility proposed a 3.9% increase starting in January 2025 and a further 1.3% increase starting in October 2025. Thursday, councilors approved a 3.9% January increase followed by a 1.2% increase in October.
