BALTIMORE \u2013 The Coppin State University Center for Strategic Entrepreneurship and the Annie E. Casey Foundation will launch a new research study focused on youth entrepreneurship and economic opportunity during the 2023 Economic Inclusion Conference<\/a> at Coppin, on Thursday, April 27, 2023. The Excellence in Entrepreneurial Learning (EXCEL) Research Project will focus on current entrepreneurship training programs for youth and young adults between the ages of 16 and 29. Through collaborative efforts, the transdisciplinary team from Coppin State University\u2019s College of Business, College of Health Professions, and College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, as well as Brazen Consulting & Accounting will identify areas where training and resource support for youth entrepreneurship can improve, and better promote positive economic mobility for young people in Baltimore City.<\/p>\n

A report published in 2017<\/a> by the Annie E. Casey Foundation found individuals ages 16 to 29 in Baltimore City want to pursue entrepreneurship and identified a need to make resources available to start and maintain a business. The results of the EXCEL Research Project will help inform future initiatives to foster opportunities for youth entrepreneurship and provide young people with resources to start a business.<\/p>\n

Coppin State University, as an anchor institution in Baltimore, carries out initiatives and partnerships that align with its mission of providing educational opportunities and promoting lifelong learning, while also fostering leadership, social responsibility, civic and community engagement, cultural diversity and inclusion, and economic development. The Center for Strategic Entrepreneurship seeks to provide resources and dynamic solutions that propel future developments in business that drive economic growth and entrepreneurial outcomes in Baltimore and beyond.<\/p>\n
