In the annals of Huntsville’s southern history, the names Hays, Jones, and Drake resonate with familial importance, etched into the agricultural landscape of the region. Once lush fields teeming with cows, crops, barns, and hay bales, these areas are now witnessing the march of progress, transforming the city’s southern rim.
While the Jones Valley neighborhood and the namesake farm still retain echoes of their pastoral origins, significant changes are under- way. Hays Farm, an ongoing construction site, continues to evolve, and now, the spotlight turns to Drake Farm for its impending transformation.
During the recent Huntsville City Council meeting, a pivotal ordinance was greenlit, marking the zoning approval for 88.78 acres situated at the intersection of Cecil Ashburn
Drive and Old Big Cove Road. This parcel is earmarked for the eagerly anticipated “Village at Drake Farm.”
