Alabama A&M Partners with American Red Cross for Magic City Classic Blood Drive

Alabama A&M University is once again partnering with the American Red Cross and rival Alabama State University for a Magic City Classic Blood Drive on Tuesday, October 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Student Health & Wellness Center.

Since 2017, the AAMU Bulldogs and ASU Hornets have teamed up with the American Red Cross to kick off their historic rivalry by seeing who can can recruit the most blood donors ahead of the Magic City Classic at Legion Field Birmingham. The goal is to rally the campus and community to donate blood and make a meaningful impact.

Last year, ASU won bragging rights, collecting almost 160 donations to AAMU’s 120. However, the Red Cross said AAMU more than doubled its donations from the previous year. It added the Magic City Classic Blood Drive had more than 200 first-time donors, an incredible feat.

Every blood donation can save lives. As a thank you, all donors will receive a free ticket to the highly anticipated Magic City Classic. Additionally, they’ll be entered into a drawing for exciting prizes, including a $5,000 grand prize, Amazon gift cards, and more.
