The top prosecutor in the fastest-growing county in Alabama sent a letter last month to 700 crime victims, asking them to petition the county commission to give money to his office.

“I am writing because there is a huge problem that affects you as a victim and your case in the court system and I NEED YOUR HELP,” Brian Jones, the district attorney of Limestone County, wrote in the letter dated June 12.
