A D.C police officer is in recovery after being stabbed in the face on the afternoon of Jan. 21.

It was reported by authorities that an officer was serving a bench warrant on Mount Olivet Road in the Northeast D.C., area.

Around 1:10 p.m., officers from the fifth District arrived in the area after reports of a wanted person came through. Once the officers arrived at the home and attempted to arrest the woman under arrest things got violent.

Tanesha Davis, 28, resisted arrest, pulled out a knife and stabbed an officer in the face multiple times.

According to D.C. police, she was “swiftly apprehended” following the incident. The officer’s injuries were minor and he received treatment on the scene.

Davis has since been charged with assault on a police officer, in addition to the outstanding warrant.
