A counselor assigned to a high school in north Alabama was arrested on allegations he had sexual contact with a student under 19 years old, according to police and Madison City Schools.

Isaac Munoz, 37, was arrested Friday and charged with one count of being a school employee having sexual contact with a student under the age of 19, Madison police said Tuesday.

Munoz was assigned to James Clemens High School but he is no longer employed by The Enrichment Center, a nonprofit that provided counseling services to Madison City Schools, following his arrest, the district said.

“Madison City Schools was informed on Friday, May 10 that an individual who previously provided counseling services to students of James Clemens High School has been arrested on charges of sexual contact with a student under the age of 19. This individual was not, and has never been an employee of Madison City Schools,” the district said in a statement to AL.com

“He was, however, assigned to provide counseling services on a referral basis under an agreement between Madison City Schools and The Enrichment Center, which employed the individual,” the district’s statement continued. “Allegations of improper contact by this individual arose on April 29, 2024. The allegations were immediately reported to the Madison Police Department. The employee was immediately removed from Madison City Schools and is no longer employed by The Enrichment Center. As this is an ongoing investigation by the Madison Police Department, we have no further information that can be released at this time.
