COGIC CHURCHES TO HOLD WALK-UP VACCINE CLINIC DURING COMMUNITY OUTREACH DAY
Gardening demo, vendors and info on community services will also be available.
BALTIMORE — A walk-up vaccine clinic will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Greater Emmanuel Ministries Church of God In Christ, 4839 Hazelwood Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland, 21206. The church is located in the Cedonia neighborhood on the city-county line bordering Rosedale.
The clinic is being held during a Community Day event sponsored by the Greater Maryland First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction’s Auxiliaries In Ministry and Urban Initiatives, and the church, which serves as the headquarters for the jurisdiction. Bishop Joel H. Lyles, Jr., is the pastor, senior bishop of the jurisdiction and general secretary of the denomination.
Representatives from the State of Maryland Department of Health will administer both the Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines, but not boosters. Youth ages 12-17 must have permission from a parent or guardian, who must be present for the youth to receive the vaccine.
The event will also offer a beginners class for herbal gardening. Master Gardner Michelle Bailey-Hedgepeth will show participants how to make their own herb garden that they can take home. Gardening supplies are being donated by Jones Enterprise.
Additionally, resource vendors will be on hand to distribute information regarding city and county resources including rental and eviction prevention assistance.
