The Junior Barber Academy, located in Manayunk and led by the P. Michael Boone Foundation, is teaching young students between the ages of 12 and 18 the skills of barbering. The Academy and 21 other area nonprofits received grant funding in June from the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office for their gun violence prevention efforts.

Briahnna was born and raised in Baltimore, Md., and many of her stories have focused on issues that affect her hometown.
