The bodies of a missing female and a young child were recovered from a submerged vehicle in Eufaula.

Police received a call Sunday on a possible location for two missing females and a 4-year-old child, said Eufaula Police Chief Danny Christ.

Officers began searching the water around Old Creek Town Park about 8:30 p.m. They found a vehicle submerged in about 12 feet of water, the chief said.

Houston County rescue divers were called in to verify. After verifying the vehicle, divers hooked up the vehicle for extraction.

Once the vehicle was recovered, Christ said, a young female and small male child were discovered dead inside. Their identities have not been released.

Houston County investigators and Eufaula police are continuing to search the area for a possible third person.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 334-687-1200 or the anonymous tip line at 334-687-7100.
